Night of Ideas: Environmentalism

This is a nighttime marathon of philosophical debates,  performances, readings, and more. The event takes place in cities across the country and internationally, and is free. theme for this year is “Behold the Land,” exploring urban mutations through the lenses of the environment, Afro-futurism, and artistic expression. The debates, performances and conversations will center around issues like climate change, urban development, and gentrification. Event runs 5:00 – 11:00 p.m.

Speakers include: Clint Fluker and Nasim Fluker of ThrdSpace, associate curators of Night of Ideas; Chandra Farley, chief sustainability officer for the city of Atlanta; photographic artist Sheila Pree Bright; environmental scientist Na’Taki Osborne Jelks; Hannah Palmer, writer and founder of Atlanta Creek League; urbanist Mark Chambers; Muskogee scholar and author Laura Harjo; Sebastien Marot, French historian of architecture and environment; and the Senegalese singer and performer Ngnima Sarr, AKA T.I.E.
