Speaker Series: Tony Giarrusso – City of Atlanta 2025 Tree Canopy Update

Atlanta’s trees purify our air, cool our homes with shade, absorb stormwater, store carbon, and strengthen our city’s climate resilience. Atlanta has long been recognized for having one of the highest percentages of urban tree canopy in the nation among cities that have conducted Urban Tree Canopy (UTC) assessments.  For over a decade, Tony Giarrusso along with Georgia Institute of Technology has been studying Atlanta’s trees. Join us as he shares the findings of Atlanta’s 2025 Tree Canopy Assessment Report and discusses how the city is progressing in its efforts to protect and preserve our urban forest.
